Set partly in a refugee camp in Rafah, this is a remarkable look back at fifty years of Palestinian and Arab history, through photographs, reportage and the voices of these photographers today.
To My Father is a deeply personal and moving film that confirms the talent of Gaza-born director Shahadah, who having worked all over the world as a director, cameraman and journalist, recently turned to fimmaking. A photo here is not just a photo: it brings history to life.

C’était un temps où les filles étaient plus jolies, quand les yeux étaient de toutes les couleurs, sans aucune couleur. Ce qui est différent aujourd’hui, – la camera, ou les yeux ? demande l’hommage poétique et hypnotisant d’Abdel Salam Shehadah aux photographes des années 1950 – 1970.
Temporairement installé dans un camp de réfugiés à Rafah, c’est une remarquable retrospection sur 50 ans d’histoire des Palestiniens et des Arabes, à travers des photos, un reportage et les voix de ces photographes aujourd’hui.
A mon Pere (“To My Father”), est un film vraiment personnel qui confirme le talent du directeur Shahadah, nait à Gaza, qui a travaillé à travers le monde comme directeur, cameraman et journaliste, et plus récemment comme réalisateur.

“آنذاك، كانت البنات أكثر جمالاً، والعيون تنبض بالألوان، في عصر لم ير الألوان بعد. فما الذي تغيّر اليوم؟ الكاميرا أَمْ العيون؟” هكذا يستاءل الفنان “عبد السلام شحادة” بأسلوب شعري متذكراً عصر المصوّرين المتجوّلين واستوديوهات التصوير بين الخمسينات والسبعينات من القرن الماضي. يدور جانب من هذا الفيلم في مخيّم للاجئين في رفح، ويلقي نظرة على خمسين عاماً من التاريخ العربي والفلسطيني عبر صور وريبورتاجات ومصوّرين ما زالوا حتى يومنا هذا. “إلى أبي” فيلم شخصي عميق ومؤثر يؤكد على الموهبة الصادقة التي يتمتع بها المخرج “الغزّاوي” عبد السلام شحادة، الذي شارك في الكثير من الأعمال حول العام مخرجاً ومصوراً وصحافياً قبل أن ينتقل إلى السينما. وما يقدّمه من صور هنا، ليست مجرد صوّر، بل إبداع يعيد إحياء التاريخ
